Fins and Family Fishing's nearshore fishing charters feature great saltwater fishing within 3 miles of the beaches of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. Nearshore fishing charters are best for anglers 8 and up and are a terrific way to introduce new anglers to a conservative offshore saltwater fishing experience. Our private nearshore fishing charters are offered year round and feature trips of three and four hours and rates to fit most any budget. Nearshore fishing charters focus on light tackle bottom fishing, drift lines, and trolling. Species we pursue change with the season and include Red Snapper, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, and occasionally Sharks.

Orange Beach Fishing

Our nearshore fishing styles and fish we pursue change with the seasons. Light tackle bottom fishing is among our favorites throughout the year and frequently produces catches of juvenile Red Snapper and Triggerfish. Snapper and Trigger are both beautiful, hard fighting species, especially on light tackle. While these fish do have great food value we do not always catch fish that meet the legal size requirements due to the water depth we are fishing in. If your primary goal is to keep legal Red Snapper or Triggerfish then the offshore fishing charter will offer more consistent results. Another style of fishing we enjoy sharing with many of our guests if fishing flat lines. Flat lines can only be fished with smaller groups and if the wind and current are generally running the same direction but when we can do it the results are often amazing. We often catch Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Bonita, Snapper, and the occasional shark fishing flat lines. Many times the largest Red Snapper or King Mackerel we catch on a charter are caught on a flat line. Nearshore fishing charters can also include casting jigs and artificial lures, and trolling. When trolling we cruise nearshore waters pulling spoons, plugs and lures behind the boat at a constant low rate of speed. We often catch for awesome saltwater species such as Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Bonita, Redfish, and more. When we get a strike the rod bounces, the adrenaline starts pumping, and the fun begins. Our nearshore fishing techniques are used to fish over reefs and wrecks, near bridges and passes, along jetties, and in the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The techniques we recommend for each group vary based on the time of year, number of anglers aboard, and the overall skill level of our guests. Active styles such as casting and jigging and flat lines are best for small groups while trolling and bottom fishing, are great for up to six anglers.

We are passionate about fishing and sharing the opportunity to catch amazing saltwater fish with our charter guests. We promise to work hard to keep your lines tight, poles bent, and smiles on your faces. If this sounds like fun then give us a call today to book your next charter.  251-979-2691
